Renovating an older home means making decisions about what to preserve, what to change, and how the two will work together.

C. Cooper Construction provides home renovations, historic restoration, and custom carpentry in Clinton, Kirkland, New Hartford, Hamilton, Hubbardsville, Brookfield, and surrounding Central New York communities. Our work ranges from substantial interior renovations to carefully considered improvements to porches, decks, patios, windows, and doors.

We bring particular experience to older homes, where understanding the existing construction is as important as planning what comes next.

Home Renovations, From Individual Rooms to the Whole House

A renovation should make your home work better for you while giving careful attention to the spaces and details you already value.

We undertake whole-home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and projects that bring several areas of a house together. Our planning considers layout, structure, materials, and finish details so that decisions made in one room support the larger project.

In an older home, that may involve working around an original staircase, resolving an awkward previous alteration, or introducing cabinetry and trim that feel appropriate to the house.

Historic Restoration & Custom Carpentry

Original details often explain what drew someone to a house in the first place. Caring for them requires an understanding of their construction, condition, and role in the building.

Our restoration experience includes historic porch columns, woodwork, plaster, and structural repairs. We assess what can be retained, where repair is practical, and how new work can respect the existing architecture. When a project requires an architect or structural engineer, we collaborate with those professionals.

Custom carpentry brings that attention to the details you see and use every day—from reproducing an existing moulding profile to fitting built-in storage into a room that was never quite square.

Porches, Decks, Patios, Windows & Doors

A welcoming porch, a well-proportioned deck, or a stone patio can change how you enjoy your home. Windows and doors deserve equally careful consideration, from their appearance to the condition of the surrounding framing and trim.

We undertake these improvements as standalone projects and as parts of larger renovations. Our approach considers how the work meets the house, how materials will perform, and how the finished space will be used.
